Panasonic NN-H275SF 2-Cubic-Foot 1200-Watt Inverter Microwave Oven, Stainless Review

Panasonic NN-H275SF 2-Cubic-Foot 1200-Watt Inverter Microwave Oven, StainlessThis is the worst product I have ever purchased from Panasonic. The first one came very damaged, the foam packing was in many pieces. It worked fine for four (4) days and burned up in huge puff of black smoke.Amazon replaced in promptly. the second unit lasted 18 days before it burned up.Amazon took both units back and credited my account in a timely manner. This product to say the least was a major disappointment. In the past, Panasonic has always been premium quality.

Norpro Stainless Steel Spaetzle Maker Review

Norpro Stainless Steel Spaetzle MakerA decade or so ago I toured through Europe and while in Germany I was introduced to Spaetzle. It was love at first bite.I live in a small town in California and spaetzle is not easy to come by.I bought an instant package of spaetzle, and followed the directions (pour contents of box into boiling water...) and it was terrible. Finally I decided to shop around for a Spaetzle maker and the only one I could find cost a fortune and was incredibly big and awkward, I imagined scraping my knuckles off and gave up my dreams of having fresh spaetzle.Imagine my surprise and delight when I found this simple spaetzle maker here on Amazon.com and at such a friendly price.I ordered it right before the holidays and it arrived in time for Christmas dinner. We eat our Christmas feast early in the afternoon and for a light dinner I love to make turkey soup from leftover Christmas turkey. For a twist I decided to add some fresh spaetzle and it was a wonderful success. The maker came with two simple recipes and after a couple attempts, I mastered the spaetzle maker.Since then we eat spaetle often with gravy's, soups, and tons of other dishes. This is a great deal for such a wonderful tool that will inhance you meals.

Norpro Stainless Steel 8-5/8-Inch Colander Review

Norpro Stainless Steel 8-5/8 inch ColanderIt's not cheap, but it's gooood.Whether you need to drain pasta or filter out the mind control rays from the orbital satellites, this one'll do the job for a long time.Very solid.A little bit heavy, but that's the tradeoff--sure, you can get lighter (and wimpier) colanders, but why run the risk of having your mind being subverted by the CIA because they jack up the power a bit?
Seriously, it's a very good colander. You'll never need another one.The handles are welded on so there's no rivets to fall out, and it's about the right size for the typical pasta mess.Enjoy.

LG Over The Range Warming Lamp Microwaves Review

LG Over The Range Warming Lamp MicrowavesI was tentative at first with the idea of locating a microwave over a cooktop but wanted to give it a try and gain the additional counter space in the kitchen. I am glad I went with an over the cooktop model as it is very convenient to use even while operating the cooktop at the same time.

Having the controls along the bottom makes it easy to see which button I am pushing and to monitor the cooking time. The microwave has been great for heating casserole dishes as it can easily accommodate a large rectangular glass dish which is very rare. It also move the dish back and forth which makes for unusually even cooking, even better than a standard microwave with a carousel for rotating the food.

The under the unit light works well and the fan with its 3 speeds is also both efficient and not terribly loud. What is noisy is the magnetron tube operation which vibrates a shield which is held on only with tape. I had a technician come out and that is when I saw how the poor design of the shielding caused it to vibrate and rattle quite loudly at times. It is surprising that an otherwise excellent design should suffer from this one oversight on the part of the LG engineers.

The stainless finish is also very good and easier to keep clean than my other stainless appliances. With the microwave in a high visibility location it is nice that it is so easy to keep looking like new even with heavy use.

Overall I would buy this unit again as the benefits of the controls at the bottom and the dual action food movement mechanism compensate for the noisy operation of the unit. There are no other microwave ovens from other manufacturers that have the combination of features present in this LG. The over the counter units from GE and others look like very little thought was put into their design and they are hasty conversions of counter top models.

Product Description:
Perfect for freeing up counter space, this over-the-range microwave oven supplies 1100 watts of power and a sophisticated look that will nicely compliment any kitchen decor. Its spacious 2-cubic-foot interior contains a Glide & Spin sliding tray and turntable combination that moves side to side and spins to ensure evenly cooked food. The sliding tray works best for large casserole dishes up to 15 inches long, and the tray and turntable can accommodate menu items up to 12 inches. In addition, the oven's intelligent system takes away the guesswork when cooking meals. Choose from seven sensor-cook options: baked potato, fresh vegetable, frozen vegetable, canned vegetable, casserole, rice, and frozen entre. Humidity-sensing technology determines when food has fully cooked and automatically turns off the microwave. There's also a kid's menu that includes mac-and-cheese, hot dog, and chicken nugget. Best of all, the innovative appliance provides a warming lamp that maintains heat levels at 200, 170, 140, and 100 degrees F for a period of 90 minutes or less, so food stays warm until it's ready to be served.
Thoughtfully designed, the microwave oven also offers 10 power levels; auto, time, and quick defrost; sensor reheat; add 30 seconds; more/less control; and a popcorn key; as well as hold warm and a low-wattage melt/soften setting for making hard butter soft or for melting chocolate without boiling or scorching. In addition, the unit's 300-CFM (cubic foot per minute) exhaust system with a hidden vent reduces smoke and food odors caused by cooking. Other highlights include a horizontal keypad, a two-line digital display, a clock with auto time set, a kitchen timer, a cooking-complete reminder, a halogen cooktop light, a night light, and a child lock for safety. Accessories include a recirculating charcoal filter and a defrost pan. The microwave oven measures 15-5/8 by 29-15/16 by 16-7/16 inches and carries a one-year parts-and-labor warranty with a 10-year limited warranty on the magnetron.

Panasonic TK-929SA Stainless Steel Trim Kit (27" width) for all 2.2 cuft Panasonic Stainless Steel Microwave models Review

Panasonic TK-929SA Stainless Steel Trim Kit for all 2.2 cuft Panasonic Stainless Steel Microwave modelsI cannot believe this was all I had to do.I have been in this new house for 5 years. My original microwave, a very expensive Monogram convection($1200)(800 power) has broken down 3 times now. The magnatron is covered by warranty for 10 years.Big deal, the house call & installation alone ran me $250 each time.I found a really nice Stainless Steel Panasonic at Sams Club (after this 3rd breakdown)for $148.This microwave while not convection (I never used the convection part in the orginal one anyway) has a large turntable which the other one didn't and was much larger inside capacity 1250 power.Being that it is a table model and the original was a built in is where my problem was.I searched all over town for a frame kit to no avail.Got on internet and found a few but were not sure if they would fit.One seller advised me against it.When I found the one on Amazon, I decided to take the chance. It arrived so fast and I had it up the same morning.I just had to call my husband when it came time for the muscle of putting the oven back in.He laughed and patted me on the back and said I did good.He saw me running all over town for a week and then took a chance and it was perfect. It is beautiful and strong and if my oven ever breaks again, I have the frame all ready in place. It looks like it came with the house.I can't be happier. Connie

LG Over The Range Microwaves Review

LG Over The Range MicrowavesI recently upgraded from a GE Spacemaker XL with the purchase of an LG over-the-range microwave - 2 cubic ft., black, item number: LMV208SB.

the Good
- attractive to look at, matches my kitchen decor perfectly
- large LCD display is easy to see and read
- includes many advanced and basic settings
- has an "EZ-ON" feature which allows you to start cooking instantly with the press of this button
- has dedicated buttons for popcorn and hot dogs
- door opens on its own, there isn't another button that you need to press like on other microwaves for the door
- the price was exceptional and with Amazn's free shipping I defy anyone to find another retailer that can match their price
- comes with a 1-year warranty and if LG is anything like GE (I have no idea) they won't bat an eye if you call them for service even when the appliance is a few years old
- More/Less Arrows allow you to subtract or add time while the microwave is in operation
- tells you when to turn over food, when you're defrosting
- extra large cooking capacity, and with the wrack it nearly doubles in size
- 1100 watts of power

the Bad
- it is incredibly heavy and bulky (nearly 70 pounds), have at least 2 strong men who can lift it when you install it
- the door makes a loud clunking sound when it closes
- there isn't a "quick cook" button like GE had, the closest this has is EZ-On, however that automatically defaults to 30 seconds
- the unit doesn't constantly keep beeping to remind you that your food is ready
- sometimes foods tend to get slightly soggy when taken off the "hold warm" setting
- the rotation cannot be turned off if it is set to keep warm
- it's doing a number on my plastic dishes that are microwave safe, they're slightly bending, however since they're so inexpensive I do not mind too much

the Ugly
- it is a beast to clean/keep clean
- it is a fingerprint/dust magnet
- picks up streaks very quickly
- it can pick up scratches very, very easily

the Exceptional
- the Soften button allows you to soften butter, ice-cream, cream cheese and even frozen juice
- with the cooking sensors the microwave cooks everything to the perfect temp and then shuts off automatically, this is great for TV dinners
- with the Reheat button you can quickly heat up anything and the microwave will bring it to the perfect temp without any effort on your part
- dedicated defrost settings for vegetables, beef and chicken
- with the Hold Warm button I can now leave whatever I was cooking in it for up to 90 minutes and it will stay nice and hot, this'll save on power because I won't have to turn on the oven for this
- able to automatically turn on the Hold Warm feature to follow another cooking function
- EZ-On feature can be extended in 30 minute increments just by pressing it
- Custom Cook can be programmed to cook any single time you use the most often (my only complaint about this is you still need to press the Start/Enter button)

Things to Remember
- never use a brillo pad or abrasive sponge on this as it could scratch very easily
- although I don't know why you would want to, never turn the microwave oven on if nothing is inside it
- sometimes it makes slight crackling sounds as it's cooking, these are normal

If anyone has any suggestions on how to keep this looking perfect and nice and shiny and glossy please let me know. Right now I am using Mr. Clean Power Wipes on the outside, then I gently buff it with a dry paper towel to buff and shine it. But it's not very practical because it's a lot of work and lint, dust and fingerprints still seem to find a way all over the microwave no matter what I do or don't do.

**Update** I recently started using Fantastic Clean & Shine spray with a microfiber towel (on the outside door and on the inside-after I clean the inside with a sponge, as well) and it works very well. So far, this is the best product that I have found to keep it looking shiny and new (the outside mostly). Keep in mind there are different varieties of Fantastic Cleaner, you're going to want to get "Fantastic Clean & Shine" spray.

Overall this is a very useful item and one of the most used new appliances that I have purchased for my kitchen in ages.

Panasonic NN-SD688S Prestige 1300-Watt 1-1/5-Cubic-Foot Stainless-Steel Microwave Oven Review

Panasonic NN-SD688S Prestige 1300-Watt 1-1/5-Cubic-Foot Stainless-Steel Microwave OvenOverall this is an excellent microwave, but with a few caveats:

1)I had read other reviews regarding the unreadability of the display on this and similar Panasonic microwaves, but didn't fully appreciate the problem until it was set up on my counter top.The display is unreadable above 45 degrees from the horizontal, which means that at arm's length to operate the controls, you must bend over to see the display. My solution, which was to build a stand to raise the top of the microwave up to the bottom of the cabinets, made the display high enough to be (barely) readable while standing up, but is probably not acceptable to a lot of people. Panasonic should have caught this in testing and provided a flip-up display that could be adjusted to the installation.

2)Also as mentioned in some of the other reviews, the door release button requires so much force (at least when new) that the unit will skid across the counter-top unless you hold it with your other hand.Mine is mounted in the corner, where it has some stability, but it is still marginal.

3)This unit replaced a Panasonic in which the touch-pad controls died, and the buttons here are indeed logical and have a good solid feel to them.It does take some time to learn programming without a touch-pad, but that shouldn't be an overall issue in your decision.

4)Panasonic could do themselves a favor by better explaining the benefits of the terms Turbo, Inverter, and Sensor, as this microwave indeed performs very, very well after you get over some of the other problems.

Other highlights include a popcorn key, 10 power levels, Inverter Turbo Defrost technology for even defrosting without cooking, keep-warm mode, delay start and timer, more/less control, quick minute, and stop/start buttons. Panasonic NN-SD997S Prestige 2.2 Cu-Foot 1250 Watt Microwave, Stainless Steel Review

Panasonic NN-SD997S Prestige 2.2 Cu-Foot 1250 Watt Microwave, Stainless SteelWe've had this microwave for several months now, after replacing an old one that was having trouble (which 1/4 of the plate that it decided to heat on any given day was apparently determined by the phases of the moon, or possibly sun spots).

First of all, this is a good size microwave. If you are upgrading from a smaller one, be sure to check the dimensions listed in the product description before ordering.

It's very well built. It gives the impression that it's probably going to last forever. All of the buttons, the dial, the door and its release mechanism are all very solid. The inner rotating tray and the rotation mechanism that it sits on are also well done -- even with a really lopsided load, the rotation of the tray remains smooth.

The performance of this microwave has been stellar. As mentioned in another review, the Popcorn mode is perfect -- I have yet to see a single burnt piece come out of a bag.The "Sensor Reheat" mode has been spectacular for me as well.Just put the food in, and press the button. I use it all the time for leftovers, and wow!As a matter of fact, just yesterday I used it to reheat a plate that included ground beef, mixed vegetables, and a large amount of mashed potatoes -- nothing was overdone, and the mashed potatoes were hot all the way through!

The unit itself is quiet -- it probably operates at about a third of the volume of my old one (admittedly, that's not saying much). My girlfriend thinks it's hilarious that the display says "Enjoy Your Meal" after it finishes heating.

There are a number of features that I haven't tried, since I haven't had a need for them yet.If I end up using one of these features in the future, I'll update this review with the new info.

All in all, it's a great machine. Easily the best microwave I have ever owned. It's expensive (mine was an open box item at a local retailer, purchased for $179), but the capabilities (and the distinct sense that it will last forever) make it a worthwhile investment.

Panasonic NN-SD767S 1.6-Cubic-Foot 1250-Watt Microwave Oven, Stainless Steel Review

Panasonic NN-SD767S 1.6-Cubic-Foot 1250-Watt Microwave Oven, Stainless SteelWas looking to replace an old G.E. microwave with something more powerful & modern, this style from Panasonic fit the bill. I love the features this microwave comes with, and it's a very efficent microwave, sleek in look, powerful in it's cooking power, and does the job very nicely.

In my opinion, the folks who engineered this microwave knew just what they were doing, the auto-sensing feature has worked flawlessly everytime I've used it, cooking leftovers perfectly! (not too hot, not too cool) and I love the pop-out adjustable flywheel control.

Dang! this thing is even smart enough (when the clock is set) to tell you to enjoy your breakfast, lunch or dinner (neat little tactile feedback in the display)

If you are looking for a very nice microwave oven which is powerful and has some neat features - and this fits your sizing requirements, I would highly recommend it.

Panasonic NN-SD967S 2-1/5-Cubic-Foot 1250-Watt Microwave Oven, Stainless Steel Review

Panasonic NN-SD967S 2-1/5-Cubic-Foot 1250-Watt Microwave Oven, Stainless SteelPros:
It is a compact, lightweight microwave.
It does an above average job of thawing frozen foods.
It does an above average job of reheating uncovered entrees.
It appears to be one of the most uniformly heating microwaves that I have ever used.

Cons:
1) It emits so much radio frequency noise that it shuts down the 2.4GHz (802.11G) wireless router for our computers that is 40' away.A call to Panasonic had a technician that stated this was normal(!), and suggested if we were concerned we could have it check for stray microwaves.
2) It does not deliver as much heat into a cup of liquid as an older GoldStar microwave of ~1100W, i.e. heating takes longer despite a higher power.

Minor annoyances: The light only comes on when the klystron is active, and the grill is difficult to see through so it can be difficult to judge when items are sufficiently heated.
The display is not visible when standing next to the keypad, unless you are 5' or shorter at normal counter height. (It appears to show 88:88 until you bend down.)
The wheels supporting the plate don't have a track, so it is pretty common not to have them perfectly centered around the drive. This can lead to some squeaking until you get it recentered.
