This microwave looks good, but as a microwave that cannot generate microwave, it is useless.

I had used several microwave stoves before, some of them around $50, some around $100, but none of them stopped working within 3 yrs--except this expensive one. We called GE customer service, they told me the magnetron tube was broken, and they also told me this happens because, statistically, the failure rate of this magnetron tube is 3-4 percent. I don't need to be a magnetron-tube engineer to understand this rate. As a regular customer, I just know this failure rate is too high to be accepted.

If GE continues to make this kind of products, it will become another GM soon, and they can only depend on the government bailout to survive.

GE : JES1290SK Microwave Review

We've had this microwave oven for approximately 14 months.
The warranty is 12 months.
At about month 13 (just as the warranty expired), the microwave starts making this horrible sound - like it is ready for take-off - every time we place something slightly off-centered in the turntable, and every time the cooking time comes to an end and before we open the door.
It still seems to cook fine, but it just doesn't sound safe (several reviews in other sites report that this model of microwave tends to catch on fire, so I suspect this is where ours is headed if we continue using it).
It has seen a year of light to moderate use (1 to 3 times a day almost daily, for no more than 5 minutes each time). We've never used the convection feature.
It is so close to the expiration of the warranty, that I called GE thinking they would be reasonable, and provide some type of coverage. These were the options we were given:
* Use their "packaged" service, which this microwave qualifies for, and get it repaired for "only" $190 (note that we paid about $230 for it). Then there would be a limited warranty on the repair.
* Have a service person come see the microwave - with a service visit charge of $80, and then give us some sort of discount for a new GE appliance.

They behaved like they were making us a favor (we're sorry you experienced problems, but these offers will only be valid for the next 30 days...).

My question - why should I reward a company that ships crappy products, and doesn't stand behind what they produce? Why should I pay a over $400 (original price + repair) for something that is likely to break in another year, if instead I can purchase something for about the same amount, with a better warranty, better service, and better track record?

No more GE appliances in our household!

We had a GE over-the-range microwave, which worked fine until the cheap plastic door handle cracked and broke.This was a serious problem, because you can't open the door when the handle breaks off.When we tried to replace the handle, we were told you can't just replace it, you have to replace the entire door assembly, which cost hundreds of dollars and requires a service call.So we bought a new microwave.The sales person persuaded us to get another GE and told us that our door handle problem was a fluke.Lo and behold, after only a few months, this door handle broke, too!Fortunately, this one is still under warranty, but it makes you wonder a) if the quality control is slipshod and b) if they insist on using a cheap, brittle plastic for the handle, why they can't design it to replace the el cheapo part without buying an entire new door.

GE JX81C FILTER KIT F/1540/1541 OTRMW Review

I bought this filter for my GE JVM1540 microwave. ABT shipped it quickly.
My microwave didn't come with a filter when I bought it, so this is the first time I've used one. While installing it, I found a fatal flaw- the microwave blows air out of two ducts on the front of the microwave, but GE only provided the capability to install a filter over the left one. So you're only filtering half of the exhaust. Actually, I think you're probably filtering less than that- after I installed the filter in the left duct, even more air was exhausted from the right duct than before (I'm guessing the wind resistance of the filter causes air from the left duct to back up and flow out the right, bypassing the filter completely).

I don't see the point in buying a filter to filter only a portion of the air coming out of the microwave. And I can't believe that GE let that design flaw slip through.

GE : JVM1540DNWW Microwave Review

Bought microwave 3.5 yrs ago.Recently the Microwave started reseting after running for 2 seconds.The first really annoying part is that you have to reset the time and date to get the microwave to function again (I hate this!!!) You cannot use until time and date are set.

Found out that RF(Radio Frequency) Mag tube inside of microwave is leaking and the RF is reseting the circuit board causing the microwave to reset.

The cost to repair is greater than the amount to buy another one.GE should make a better product.

Purchased the unit for around $200 so you do the math as to how much it cost per year to use.I will not buy another GE Microwave These things should last longer than a few years.

GE Profile : JES2251SJ 2.2 cu. ft. Countertop Microwave with Child Lockout and Extra Large Capacity Review

I am very disappointed at the poor reliability of this unit.Ours is less than a year old and has failed--now, when attempting to cook, the unit shuts off before the end of the programmed time.Even though the light comes on and the turntable turns, the unit does not heat food.Like others, I purchased this unit based on the recommendation in Consumer Reports; this recommendation didn't pan out.I tried to schedule warranty service and GE is making us wait a week to schedule and their frustrating telephone system does not provide information on where I can take it for service for faster turnaround (and didn't put me in touch with a live representative).

When the microwave oven worked, it worked fine.We replaced a Sharp unit with this one; though this unit has the advantage of a larger capacity, its controls are less intuitive.

Based on poor reliability and poor service, we're certainly not going to buy another GE microwave.We've had good success with GE refrigerators in the past; this is very disappointing.A quick search on the web now reveals that GE microwave ovens are not reliable--many others appear to have similar problems with the magnetrons.

Perhaps this is one reason why GE is looking to sell its appliance business...

GE : JES1142SJ Counter Top Microwave Review

I bought this GE because the salesman said they are a good brand.The microwave looks good, but it is way too loud!There is vibration and you practically have to yell when you are in the kitchen and it is on!I had an older model Sharp and it is much quieter than this one, although there are problems with the clock on it.I will be returning the GE and probably get another Sharp or something else!

GE JX81B Microwave Recirculating Charcoal Filter Kit Review

Not much to say about a charcol filter.This product was in perfect new condition, fit exactly as it should and was much less expensive then the manufacturer's filter. I will buy these as my ongoing replacement filters.
