GE JX81C FILTER KIT F/1540/1541 OTRMW Review

I bought this filter for my GE JVM1540 microwave. ABT shipped it quickly.
My microwave didn't come with a filter when I bought it, so this is the first time I've used one. While installing it, I found a fatal flaw- the microwave blows air out of two ducts on the front of the microwave, but GE only provided the capability to install a filter over the left one. So you're only filtering half of the exhaust. Actually, I think you're probably filtering less than that- after I installed the filter in the left duct, even more air was exhausted from the right duct than before (I'm guessing the wind resistance of the filter causes air from the left duct to back up and flow out the right, bypassing the filter completely).

I don't see the point in buying a filter to filter only a portion of the air coming out of the microwave. And I can't believe that GE let that design flaw slip through.

GE JX81D Microwave Filter Kit Review

I don't have an outside exhaust on the vent above my stove.The old vent had only grease filters while the new GE vent also has room for a charcoal filter.Great idea, but the filter is tough to find.Good thing Amazon has a partner that sells this thing.Also, it is pricey for a simple charcoal filter, but it was expensive everywhere else i looked, so the vendor was not overly high priced.

GE : JVM1850SMSS Microwave Review

I had been renting in an apartment community that went condo last year and had GE white appliances when I was renting that had no problems during my three years residing there.I bought a brand new refurbished condo in my community with new GE appliances and have had problems during the first year with some of the large kitchen appliances including this particular model microwave.After some research on line, I found similar defects reported from other individuals that bought this product.There are plastic brackets inside the handle that have melted off (and I checked all measurements from the stove and they meet specifications)and then you have holes where the brackets were.Unsafe for one and when I had GE come to service it, they offered me another door, which is course the same exact door even though I know other GE models have different doors that fit a particular model.The door is being sent to my house and I will again have to take time off for GE to install and hope that the brackets will not melt once again.I'd recommend putting your money down on a well-reputed appliance other than GE.

GE Profile : JES2251SJ 2.2 cu. ft. Countertop Microwave with Child Lockout and Extra Large Capacity Review

I am very disappointed at the poor reliability of this unit.Ours is less than a year old and has failed--now, when attempting to cook, the unit shuts off before the end of the programmed time.Even though the light comes on and the turntable turns, the unit does not heat food.Like others, I purchased this unit based on the recommendation in Consumer Reports; this recommendation didn't pan out.I tried to schedule warranty service and GE is making us wait a week to schedule and their frustrating telephone system does not provide information on where I can take it for service for faster turnaround (and didn't put me in touch with a live representative).

When the microwave oven worked, it worked fine.We replaced a Sharp unit with this one; though this unit has the advantage of a larger capacity, its controls are less intuitive.

Based on poor reliability and poor service, we're certainly not going to buy another GE microwave.We've had good success with GE refrigerators in the past; this is very disappointing.A quick search on the web now reveals that GE microwave ovens are not reliable--many others appear to have similar problems with the magnetrons.

Perhaps this is one reason why GE is looking to sell its appliance business...

Amana : AMC2206BAS 2.0 cu. ft. Countertop Microwave Oven - Stainless Steel Review

We purchased this item from a local appliance store on Feb 19, 2010. The salesperson praised the Whirlpool line over Sharp or GE which they didn't sell.The Whirlpool line has Magic Chef on the low end, then next up is Whirpool and Amana with Maytag their top of the line.He didn't think it was worth the extra $100.00 to buy the Maytag for the little extra quality or features and neither did we.We were replacing our less than three year old Panasonic that had a spin dial and inverter that went out and the parts were as much as a new microwave.

The first one of these microwaves we brought home we got out of the box and the control panel was hanging loose on the front.The holes on the side of the unit looked like they should have screws to hold the control panel in and they were missing. We called the store and took it back for an exchange when we were in that town next.On 2/24/10 we brought the second Amana microwave home.They opened, inspected and tested it before sending it home with us.The panel was a little loose and had no screws in it but we were comfortable using it.

On 3/6/10 the light inside of the microwave went out.We called in and the appliance store sent us out a bulb for free but we have to install it because it wasn't covered under warranty.To even change the bulb you have to have a speciality security screwdriver to open the case (which we happen to have).

3/22/10 - We received the bulb but hadn't installed it yet and went to warm up some breakfast and the microwave was asking us to set the clock.We set the clock, opened the microwave and the screen went dead. When we would open and shut the door the control panel would flash about 6 times but now has stopped even flashing.It was completely dead.We tried plugging it into a different circuit, and plug (along with other items that were plugged in and functioning) and nothing.We have called and will bring it back to the store again and they are going to give us our money toward another one of these which we will NOT buy or another microwave in the store.

Save yourself the hassle we have had and buy another brand. At least we have an appliance store that will take a lemon back.

GE JX81B Microwave Recirculating Charcoal Filter Kit Review

Not much to say about a charcol filter.This product was in perfect new condition, fit exactly as it should and was much less expensive then the manufacturer's filter. I will buy these as my ongoing replacement filters.
