These are wonderful little bowls for ingredients. I have a pretty small kitchen and don't like a lot of clutter when I cook. The attraction was my preference for natural cooking mediums...I prefer stone, clay, wood, etc. I use these for pre-measured ingredients, mixing eggs, making sauces, etc. They are perfect for people who find themselves pulling cereal bowls out of the cabinet to cook with but probably not for people who don't do a lot of cooking that requires a variety of sized bowls. They are pretty, though, and make great little serving bowls. They look and feel like wood to me...but they are a finished product so they do not have a "rustic" wood charm...but they are not so laminated and refined that they are void of imperfections or completely without the feel of wood.
