Progressive International Portion Scoop Review

An excellent size for baking but useless for ice cream. First time I used the scoop to serve ice cream the semicircle that should clear the ice cream from the scoop pivoted out of position and stayed there. I was able to push it back with my thumb. I wouldn't use with anything heavier than cookie dough.

Norpro Scoop Stainless Steel, 35MM (1 Tablespoon) Review

I have had this tool for a few years now and it continues to work just fine.

It is a nice little multi-tasker.I have used this tool for the following tasks:
1.Cookies of exactly the same size, even baking
2.Chocolate truffles
3.Cheesecake balls to be dipped in chocolate
4.Ice cream balls also to be dipped in chocolate
5.Melon balls
6.Goat cheese balls to be baked or rolled in herbs or nuts
7.Scooping Risotto for fried risotto balls
8.Perfect bite size meatballs
9.Gnudi (Italian Ricotta and Spinach dumplings)
10.Spingi (Italian doughnuts)

I now cannot imagine baking cookies without this little tool.It is so nice to have all the cookies be exactly the same size.It makes baking much more pleasurable.

This tool has so many uses.Whenever it is helpful to have products turn out the same size (bite sized) I grab this little tool from the drawer.I come up with new uses for this tool every month.

I am not certain what lubrication one of the other reviewers is referring to.There is no lubrication on this tool that I can find.As long as it is clean (no dough or other gunk dried in the sweep mechanism) it works fine.I make certain to drop it in a mug of hot soapy water as soon as I am finished with it to make certain that nothing gums up the sweep mechanism.After 5 minutes a quick hand wash and it is ready to go back into the drawer.

I highly recommend this product to anyone that loves to cook.

Norpro Stainless Steel Scoop, 50MM (3 Tablespoon) Review

Finally, an ice cream scoop that gets the ice cream out of its container AND then out of the scoop into the dish. Sounds like a no-brainer, right? Should be -- but this is the first scoop design I've ever used that managed both with equal ease. Most of the old-fashioned ones had a release mechanism that got the ice cream into the dish pretty well, but needed tons of hot water and the strength of 10 men and a boy to get the goodie out of its native container. More recent versions have made the container-to-scoop process less of a herculean task, but need the assistance of finger or other appendage to make it the rest of the way to the bowl.
This delightful object has solved both problems. In addition, it's a God-send for baking cookies. I operate a virtual cookie factory every Christmas and have tried many techniques to speed the dough-to-baking pan transfer. Last year, I saw this scoop and its smaller (2 teaspoon) sibling at a kitchen supply place and purchased both. I was able to bang through all my drop cookies in record time -- hurrah!
Whether ice cream or cookie baking is your passion, I can't think of a better way to spend 10 bucks!
