I've owned these for slightly more than two years now and they still get used at least once a week.The way they are put together assures that they drain properly when you set them in the silverware part of your dish rack to dry.I like these so much that I have actually just given away all the other variants I used to have.I can't speak to the dishwasher-ability of these, but they still look and function good-as-new after all the handwashing.Highly useful kitchen basic that was clearly given a lot of design thought so as to be good for years of regular use.

Progressive International Meat Pounder Review

This Progressive International Meat Pounder does a good job of tenderizing boneless cuts of beef, veal and poultry. It's very easy to hold while pounding your meat, and will quickly help flatten meats to an even thickness, far better than one of those lightweight wooden mallets. I picked up one of these when my cheap (i.e. dollar store) mallet-style pounder broke the first day that I had it. Mallets meat pounders do work, but they put a bit of stress and shock on your wrist every time they make contact. You'll be able to prepare a lot of meats with this without wearing out your wrists.

This meat pounder has a stainless steel pounding surface. Its round shape is ideal for pounding meats and poultry, as well as pressing patties for hamburgers. It weighs a little more than a pound, so it's not too light or heavy to do the job at hand, and does most of the work with little effort. You can use the edge of the stainless steel disk for tougher meat cuts. The round shape is perfect for pounding and tenderizing all kinds of meat, and it's perfect for pressing beef patties for hamburgers.

You can spend a lot more on a heavier meat pounder, but you have to ask yourself if it's really necessary. This one has a comfortable design, with a durable, easy to grip handle. Since the disk is made of stainless steel, it's safe to use in the dishwasher.

I've use this for smashing peeled garlic cloves easily, and used it to break up chocolate for occasional baking as well. It has even been used to effortlessly break up ice cubes upon occasion, and is the perfect shape to put on some pot lids to weigh them down during cooking.

About the only thing that it didn't work for was crushing walnuts, and for that one really needs a nut chopper. With apologies to Vince "You'll Love My Nuts" Offer (the ShamWow guy), I'll pass and go for the Progressive International Heavy Duty Nut Chopper for that job.

There are tougher and more expensive ways to pound your meat, but this one does the job for me.
