It does have solid wood for the top pieces,braces, legs, doors and drawer front but the rest of it is pressed wood with wood veneer. I polyurethaned the whole cart to protect it from spills and it looks very nice but the veneers do not match the wood grain of the solid wood. The veneer is more fine type of grain while the solid wood has a larger grain appearance, it would have been nice if the wood grains would match better. The 2 top pieces look like a carving block and are very pretty. I didn't care for the way the back pieces are put together with pins, the pins are very loose and it was difficult holding the pieces together while trying to screw the top piece on.
